Star Jones Admits it: Finally!

Yes she did have that bypass surgery. Finally she admits it! I wonder what took so long.

Star Jones Reynolds says in a new interview that her dramatic weight loss was due to gastric bypass surgery, and that she dodged questions about it for years because she was "scared of what people might think of me."

Reynolds, 45, says she was "intentionally evasive" when people asked how she'd dropped 160 pounds in three years. The former "View" co-host opens up about her weight loss and self-esteem issues in a first-person essay featured in the September issue of Glamour magazine, on newsstands August 7.

"Everything about me was already so public (mostly my own doing -- talk about dumb!), so of course everyone wanted to know what I had done," she writes. "I was also terrified someone would have a tragic result after emulating me without making an informed decision with her doctor."

"But the complete truth is, I was scared of what people might think of me," she continues. "I was afraid to be vulnerable, and ashamed at not being able to get myself under control without this procedure."

Gold Anyone?

Apparently gold isn't just for jewelery nowadays. It is edible. A company in Japan (only in Japan!) called Tsukioka Co. Ltd. sells edible gold flakes, which comes in many shapes and sizes. The company claims that by ingesting the edible pure gold, it helps to refresh the human body. How beneficial is this? I am not to very sure. Who comes up with this stuff? I know that gold is used on edible candy for weddings, cakes and special occasions. But actually beneficial? I do not know about that. Can the human body even digest it?

Baby Born with Four Legs

A child was born with four legs at the Lebowakgomo hospital outside Polokwane on Thursday night, South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) radio news reports.

Provincial health department spokesperson Phuthi Seloba said: ""This is a very strange case. In the past 10 years in this province we've never seen such a case.

"But most of our doctors are familiar with this type of problem and they've committed themselves and vowed that they will continue to support the mother and help the baby to live a normal life," he said.

The condition of being born with extra limbs, known as "polymelia", is rare among both humans and animals.

A case last occurred in Zambia in July 2003, the SABC reported.

Go Laila!

Laila is kicking butt on Dancing with the Stars. She is definitely holding her own. Needless to day I am rooting for her. She is definitely her father's daughter. I know her training as a boxer is helping her out. She has that fancy footwork.

I don't even watch Dancing with the Stars, but I have caught a few episodes just because I had heard that Laila was doing so well. Go Laila! Dance like it is 1999!

Cho Seung-Hui

Cho Seung-Hui.

What do we know about him? The gunman suspected of carrying out the Virginia Tech massacre that left 33 people dead was described Tuesday as a sullen loner . It is always those quiet ones that we need to watch out for. They are deadly. He looks innocent enough but according to the news blurbs I heard he was disturbed. His creative writing indicated that something was wrong. Why did not his family see that? They had to notice something before over 30 people were killed. He recently stalked women and set fire to a dorm room. Surely someone would or should have seen that he was a man in trouble.

He killed two people earlier in the morning, before the slaughter later. I am not sure why no one figured out he was the one who did that. It is a shame. So many lives lost. And for what? He left a note reportedly railed against "rich kids" and "debauchery" and "deceitful charlatans" on campus. There was another report that he was depressed and on medication. He really needed to be in counseling by whoever gave him the pills for depression.

Cho was born in South Korea on Jan. 18, 1984 and entered the United States in 1992 as a child of 8. He was a permanent resident alien, a "green card" holder entitled to most of the legal rights held by U.S. citizens. He was legal. But just crazy!

I just hope that we do not have any copy cat killing now. I remember after Columbine in 1999 that kids began to shoot their classmates all over the place. It was scary! This was the worst killing spree in US history. My heart, prayers and thoughts go out to all those families who lost their loved ones or who have loved ones who were injured but not killed. What is this world coming to? I just don't know.
