Mindset

Today was not such a good day. It was the time of month when cravings for chocolate are most crazy. I ate a small bag of cookies today...about the amount of a small box of those circus crackers that come in the animal decorated boxes. The ones I just about never see any more. They were around when I was a child.

The box was this size and it was filled with mini chocolate wafers. They were yummy. I ate them all in about three hours. I felt much better after. Now the urge for more chocolate is gone. That was most defintely not in the game plan for a diet. Even a small box can get you off your game. There is always tomorrow.

Bar Sinks Revisited

For this post I had to go way back...way back to college. I was forced to remember a crazy night at the fraternity house. I was a little sister to a fraternity in college and while everyone else was getting intoxicated, I watched. I would have the occasional beer but that was all. I never got drunk. I was not into that, so normally I was the designated driver for all my friends for most of the four years at college. It got a little old being the driver all the time, but at least I was the one behind the wheel. I certainly was not going to get behind the wheel with them!

I recall one night in the main living room some girl decided that she needed to dance on the bar. The frat house had a long wooden bar in it that was used for eating and at times as a bar during parties. One of the brothers would mix drinks and hand them out. The girl dancing was not really drunk but just tipsy. Then another girl when up and I decided that this would most likely be the only opportunity in my entire life that I would have to dance on a bar so up I went. I was not drunk at all. I just wanted to dance on the bar...to be able to say I had done that in my life.

As it turns out it has been the only time in my life I have ever done that so on the few occasions that I relive college years and tell that story all are shocked and dismayed! Me? On a bar? Yes..you have to do things at least once. That old wooden bar probably had a lot of college girls dancing on top of it before and many after me. I am sure they were intoxicated when they did it.

I am sure that old wooden bar has a history. The one thing I do recall was that there was not a bar sink. The house itself was old and I am sure that when it was built or that bar put in, bar sinks was not even an issue for college kids. I remember there was ice to be hauled from the kitchen and dirty glasses piling up in the kitchen as well. Today, not the case. With the modernization we have today, a bar without a bar sink is just about unheard of. I really like this one, the Moen self rimming model. Very elegant. At Faucets.com you will find many options for bar sinks ranging from Moen to Kohler to Bates & Bates just to name a few.

Prices are economical and competitive. Customer satisfaction at Faucets.com is important so they are willing to match the price of an online competitor to keep you happy. Service is key as well and their staff is available every step of the way, from the sale to the installation. You can't beat that. Delivery is quick as well. Most items leave the distribution center within two business days. So, if you are thinking of putting in a bar or redoing your den to include a bar, don't forget the bar sink! Every style, color, shape and price can be accomodated at faucet.com!

Acai Reserve by Haagen Dazs: Search Over!

After searching high and low, locally, I got a wonderful comment on my blog and several emails from the wonderful people at Haagen Dazs. They understood my urgency to get some of the Brazilian Acai Sorbet, part of the Reserve Series. My hunt came to an end. At first I was communicating with Diane who then put me in touch with a woman named Summer. They were both great! After a few emails back and forth, I got a complimentary shipment of the Brazilian Acai Berry Sorbet. It came in a sleeve of 8 pints and was delivered overnight by Federal Express packed in dry ice. Did I say complimentary? Can we say random acts of kindness? They certainly did not have to do it. The sorbet is not available anywhere near me and it does not look like it will be any time soon. After searching on their flavor locator it seems to be only available in the bigger US cities for now...Atlanta, some of the bigger northern cities..New York and others and them out west in California.

My Brazilian Acai Berry Sorbet arrived in excellent condition. My mom received it as I was at work. I could not wait to get home to try some. When I did, I got out a pint and we all tried some after dinner when I got home. It was just fabulous! Light and full of those acai berries! I have recently come back from a trip to the Amazon jungle in Brazil, where I first discovered the benefits of acai. I was able to try some acai ice cream there and it was wonderful. It was that unusual purple color for ice cream.

I will be presenting a power point presentation/slide show to my ladies group who helped fund my trip to the Amazon on this coming Monday night. The Brazilian Acai Berry Sorbet will be the grand finale to their sights and tastes of the amazon. I am just thrilled this all came together. A big thank you must be given to the wonderful people at Haagen Dazs!

Thank you Haagen Dazs! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Diane and Summer! The chances of them even coming across my blog and my crazy hunt for the acai sorbet seems slim... even now. It must have been mean to happen this way. I will be sure to take some pictures on Monday of us enjoying the sorbet. I told Summer that I would send her one of our group on Monday. Sometimes little prayers can get answered...even when you did not think there was any chance of it ever happening.

Good For What Ails You!

I never knew of the benefits of a magnesium supplement. What are the benefits of taking it? Magnesium helps with various thing and I did not realize that it was even really important to take until I came across the site, Magonate.com. They are the only ones who offer a liquid magnesium. Let's break it down either further. What are the benefits? They reduce muscle cramps. That alone will do it for me. I get cramps in my hands all the time. It also helps with migraines. I used to get these alot in college. I have not had one in years. the biggest thing that I did not know about was that it actually helps with glucose metabolism. It helps if you are diabetic.

The fact that it is liquid magnesium is also a great benefit. It is easy to take by just mixing with water or juice and because there is no mixing, it is more readily dissolved and absorbed. the product itself is available on line and in local stores. This product replaces what we loose in daily activities and/or exercise. I take some vitamins now, some B vitamins, calcium, vitamins for the hair, but no magnesium. I feel I might just have to hop on down to my local GNC and check out what they have.

A liquid magnesium supplement is important because statistically, over 62% of Americans are not getting the minimum daily requirements. Plus, adults need to really maintain about 400 mg each day of the stuff to stay balanced. We could not eat enough food to get it through diet without eating over one thousand more calorie per day. So, check with your doctor and if all is well, really consider adding liquid magnesium to your daily routine. I know I have some re-visiting to do.

Clothes of All Sizes

Because I am the largest I have ever been, I never got rid of my clothes in smaller sizes. I kept them all hoping to be able to get back into them. Well, I am well on my way. I will literally have a wardrobe of clothes that most will not remember as I have not worn them in a while. They are all classic things so I cannot wait. I will be styling and profiling. I have very nice clothes. Even now, I have very nice clothes. I do think that I will get rid of all my bigger clothes. I will either sell them on EBAY or if I really like something, I will have it altered.

Things Hanging

I tried on a suit that I ahd not worn in about 6 months as it is for fall or more for winter. It was too big. It really has to be taken in. I also wore to work a green sweater that is too big as well. I did not realize that it looked too big until a trip to the ladies room. The shoulder strap of the sweater did not seem to fit anymore and my bra strap kept showing. I was having to adjust it all day. I thought it was because the sweater was 2 years old and kind of stretched out. No. It was because it is too big now. That is a good thing. A very good thing. I have not been on the scale. I will have to get on to see exactly what I weigh. I have not been on the scale in about 2 months.

Gym Lockers

Gym lockers ,when I was in high school, were standard gray and beat up. The freshmen had the bottom lockers with the seniors having the top ones. There was even a hierarchy in the gym locker room. Can you believe it? It has been years since I have been in a school locker room. I have seen the ones at my local gym and some are vented but most are the double tier wood grain designer style lockers. They are really classy and I was kind of surprised to see such a fancy locker in the locker room. The gym itself is kind of old, so I guess those lockers were a recent upgrade.

These says if older gyms and work out centers were looking to remodel and upgrade, the lockerixchange would be the place to shop for gym lockers and locker benches. They have high quality residential and commercial lockers. If fact they offer the most products in this category compared to anyone else out there. Dubbed 'the marketplace for lockers' they offer the best price and the best customer service to tailor a locker to your specific needs. They have lockers of every sort. They have storage lockers, to cabinets and open access lockers to basket lockers. They have it all. The selection in locker benches range from wooden to aluminum.

They even have sell the keys for the lockers. The staff there is committed to customer service, so if there is ever a problem you can return it if it is in the same condition as you received it with in 30 days. The restocking fee is only 25% and it is 100% refundable less restocking and initial shipping fees. So, if you are looking to upgrade a gym, be sure to check the site. The variety and the cost is not rivaled anywhere else.

Acai Reserve by Haagen Dazs: Search Still On!?

Well, as you know I have been on the hunt for the acai reserve sorbet by Haagen Dazs. No one local seems to have it. I have called every grocery store in my area. They are all checking into it. I have physically gone to most of them in the last week and a half to look for it myself. I can't find it at any grocery store. I have gone to gas station convenience stores and organic food stores and checked the smaller convenience stores as well. None to be found. I know that I can order it online, but it is not worth it. The shipping, because it will have to be specially packed in dry ice, is $39.99. That is much more than the ice cream.

I have found it at a Publix in Atlanta, but that is many hours away even if I was contemplating driving. Man!

Update to this post!
Prayers answered!

I had not checked out my comments on the blog and I just noticed that once of the Public Relations Managers (Diane McIntyre) at Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream will arrange a special delivery for me! I am thrilled to death! I just called her and left my address and phone number. I wanted this sorbet so desperately becasue I have just come back from Brazil. I went in July and had some wonderful acai icecream there and I fell in love with it. I plan to serve it to my ladies group in 2 weeks. I am giving them a slide show presentation of my Brazil trip and I have ordered other authentic Brazilian foods to serve. The acai sorbet was--not-- IS--to be my great surprise! Ice cream from the Amazon!

For the Love of Showers

There is nothing like a shower in the morning. It starts the day off just right, especially if I am tired. It will jump start me like nothing else can. I may run out of steam a few hours later, but the shower alone can get me through a few hours of nights where I have had little sleep. My shower is in an older house so it is nothing like the wonder elaborate, elegant showers at a hotel. I usually can't wait to get to the bathroom of a nice hotel to see the bathroom and marvel at the shower faucets. Having an elegant bathroom can make the world seem a million miles away at the end of a long day.

Last year I redid my bathroom, but I did not do the sink fixtures. They were okay.. what I had but. I did not have the funds to replace the old. That is for future. What I did was buy a great new shower head. It is like the danze opulence single shower head. It is very wide and it is like the water is being showered down on you like in a rain storm. I love it! This shower is just one of many that you can find on faucet.com. They have just about every style you can image. From the elegant spa bathroom to the casual bath of you vacation log cabin, you will find many styles and models to choose from. At a great price too. They will not be undersold! They will match any competitor price. Plus they do not do just bathrooms. They can outfit you kitchen as well.

Right now you can shop by brand and by style. There is even free shipping on orders over $99.00 and the customer service is great. There is staff available on line or by phone to assist with any concerns you may have. They never sacrifice on service. Whether it is a home upgrade or a large building project, faucet.com will be able to add the finishing touches with fixtures that are always stylish and timeless.

Itch Not Scratched

Man, I just had a craving for something sweet. I had that same craving earlier tonight and decided to drink a Coke. The worked for a while. I had made up my mind to go into the kitchen and get a big bowl of frozen yogurt. Butter Pecan. I went to the kitchen, got my bowl and spoon and opened the freezer door. The box was light as a feather. Can we say hell no! Man I was disappointed. I was willing to suffer the joys of being lactose intolerant too! That takes commitment. There was nothing else sweet. The only things my eyes could see was frozen lean cuisines, frozen hot gods and broccoli!

Nothing sweet. Then I decided to have juice. Orange juice. Orange juice is sweet. So I poured a nice big glass and added a large tablespoon of wheat grass to it! Orange turned to green. Wheat grass. Yum! Well, the urge for sweet has gone away and the wheat grass will make me feel like I did something healthy. Well, I did. Urge to go astray on the diet averted! This time!
